South Africa Will Host Indian Premier League (IPL) 2009

Now it is officially declared that South Africa is going to host second edition of Indian Premier League. The decision has confirmed after a meeting between IPL commissioner Lalit modi and Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola. The tournament will begin on 18 April, a week later than originally planned. Johannesburg, Durban, Centurion, Port Elizabeth, East London and Cape Town will be announced as the host center. South Africa was considered the hot favorite to host the second season of the IPL since IPL officials expressed concern about the impact of England’s spring weather have on the tournament. England also cause problems in terms of cost, planning and the likelihood of conflicts between the TV rights holders.
